TRIZ

The Theory of Inventive Problem Solving

Although the number of problems is infinite, the number of solutions is limited to a few basic principles.

Classical TRIZ Tools

  1. Define the specific problem.
  2. Create a model of the problem.
  3. Identify the model of the solution.
  4. Define Specific Solution.

TRIZ stands for "Teoriya Resheniya Izobretatelskikh Zadach." TRIZ first appeared in the West after the collapse of the Soviet Union in the 1900s. TRIZ is the brainchild of Soviet Patent Officer, Genrich Altshuller.

TRIZ Discoveries

First Discovery:

Problems and solutions were repeated across industries and sciences.

Second Discovery:

Patterns of changes were repeated across industries and sciences and create trend.

Third Discovery:

Innovations used knowledge outside the boundaries from which the original problem is found.
